For centuries the Danube, crossed by citizens of the capital several times a day on either of its bridges, has served as just as an important transport route as any other piece of land infrastructure has. The Danube is used by many as a transport corridor: the majority of the inland waterway freight is performed on it, and it also plays an increasingly important role in the public transport of Budapest as well as in domestic and international tourism; furthermore the sports clubs alongside the river have seen several generations grow up, many sportsmen of which have advanced the reputation of the country by becoming Olympic medalists. It is of key importance that the users of the watercourse pay attention to one another. The aim of our event is to promote the idea at the most popular amateur rowing competition of the country that in order to improve our transport culture we need to pursue joint efforts not only on the land but on the water as well.
